Linux wireless networking
Linux, an alternative operating system to Microsofts dominant Windows platform has seen a big growth in usage amongst the computer user community. The operating system has improved in a major way, with better user interaction and more support for various types of hardware. Most device manufacturers release Windows device drivers for the product. As such some types of hardware may not run on Linux until a driver has been written for it.
This is changing however, as many hardware companies, especially networking companies release both types of drivers for their product. If the driver is not included on the bundle CD it will normally be available for download from the manufacturers website. Most users of Linux are professional computer users. Some even write their own drivers for certain devices. As such even if the manufacturer has not proclaimed an official driver, it is likely the community has already developed one. It is always best to check driver and support availability and product compatibility before purchasing hardware for Linux. Linux is a great operating system, it has built in network support and far superior security capabilities than Microsoft Windows.
