Home Network: Introduction to wireless networking
Introduction to wireless networking
With the explosion in the advancement and manufacture of wireless networking products it is now possible for many people to easily install and own a home wireless network. Wireless networking enables people to share files amongst a common network, share resources such as printers and share Internet access. Wireless networking is especially attractive because it reduces the need for any extra cables, unlike normal Ethernet based networking.
By setting up an access point and wireless access adaptors for each user people can easily enjoy the freedom of exchanging information without the need for messy cables. Laptop users can move their laptop from one point of the house to the other while still maintaining their connection. External laptop users can easily be added to the network if required, provided they have the sufficient hardware. Although wireless networking will still have to play catch up with wired networking in terms of speed in security, it is very close to getting there. In the future many networks will be based on wireless transmission because of their ease of setup and convenience.
